The Company offers an opt-in matchmaking service (“ASF Matchmaking”) to members and registered users. Participation in this service is entirely voluntary. Because this service involves the collection and sharing of sensitive personal information, it is governed by additional privacy considerations set out in this section, which supplement the rest of this Privacy Policy.
In addition to the standard personal data described elsewhere in this Policy, participation in the ASF Matchmaking service involves the collection of information that is classified as sensitive information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This includes:
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, sensitive information may only be collected with Your express consent and where it is reasonably necessary for the purposes of the service. By completing and submitting the matchmaking form, You expressly consent to the collection of all categories of sensitive information listed above for the sole purpose of facilitating the ASF Matchmaking service.
The sensitive and personal information You provide through the matchmaking form is collected solely for the following purposes:
Your matchmaking data will not be used for marketing, analytics, research or any purpose other than those listed above without Your separate, express consent.
When the Company’s matchmaking team identifies a potential match, both parties will receive an anonymised version of each other’s questionnaire responses and photograph via email. Your full name and direct contact details will not be shared at this stage.
If both parties agree to meet, Your preferred contact method (email address and/or mobile number, as nominated by You in the form) will be shared with Your match. No other contact details will be disclosed without Your consent.
Your matchmaking profile will not be shared with any third party outside of the matching process, except where required by law.
Your matchmaking profile, including any photographs You submit, is stored securely using industry-standard technical and organisational security measures, including encrypted transmission, access-controlled storage and firewall protection. Access to matchmaking data is strictly limited to authorised members of the ASF Matchmaking team.
Your matchmaking profile will be retained in Our database for as long as You are an active participant in the service. If You withdraw from the service or request deletion of Your profile, Your data will be permanently deleted from Our systems within 30 days of Your request, except where retention is required by law.
Anonymised profile data that has already been shared with a match prior to Your withdrawal will not be retrievable from that match’s records, but no further sharing will occur after Your withdrawal request is received.
You may withdraw from the ASF Matchmaking service and request the deletion of Your profile at any time by contacting Us at matchmaking@scienceandfreedom.org. Withdrawal from the matchmaking service does not affect Your general membership or account with ASF.
The Company provides the ASF Matchmaking service in good faith as a community service. Participation does not guarantee that You will be matched with another participant, and the Company makes no representations or warranties regarding the suitability, compatibility or conduct of any other participant. The Company is not responsible for the actions or behaviour of any person You are introduced to through the service.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company’s liability in connection with the matchmaking service is limited in accordance with the Limitation of Liability clause in Our Terms and Conditions. Nothing in this section limits any rights You may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Our Service is not directed to anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 18 years of age.
