There is an extraordinary litany of misappropriations, misdeeds, and overreach, with jaw-dropping adverse consequences, directly due to AHPRA, Australia’s health-care regulator. Unfortunately, the National Act contains no statutory or regulatory consequences for wrongdoings by AHPRA, meaning that AHPRA is free to do what it wants to, how it wants to, and when it wants to. Furthermore, the Health Practitioners’ Ombudsman cannot enforce any findings it makes against AHPRA. This conference seeks to explore the mechanics of AHPRA’s failings, showcase some examples, and to educate attendees about how to manage and address issues with AHPRA.
